I’ve just finished reading volume 2 of the comic The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The story isn’t all that great, but it does have some good artwork of Edgar Rice Burroughs-style Green Martians fighting HG Wells-like Martians.

I felt like volume 2 of LoEG was GOOD, but felt incomplete–it probably should just be bundled with volume 1 as a 12 issue maxi-series, but then it would diminish the fairly perfect arc of Volume 1 (which I absolutely love). The tempting answer then would be to say “make it a single 12-issue series and forget the rest” but, while I find the A-plot a little meh, I really really enjoy the backup material in the Black Dossier.
I think it suffered from too much “I have to work in this character”, to the detriment of the plot. And it’s not as much fun if you don’t recognise the characters, which in a lot of cases I didn’t.
