It is said in Teleleli that snakes mate for life, and that if a male snake commits adultery even his lover will be disgusted with his act, and will bite his head off. Yet it is also said that snakes do not count any act which is committed in the water, and that therefore they will go down to the sea and seek copulation with eels.
